Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.
This month is the beautiful and well-deserving Miss Allison Hall! We are so thankful she walked through our doors this past summer. She sets the perfect example of how to make your fitness a priority. Not only does she make it in 5-6 times a week, but she is always spending time outside of class working on a skill she is wanting to achieve....(bar muscle up coming soon!) Yea, the hard work is great, but what makes us SO thankful for her is her presence. Thank you, Allison, for always smiling and being so welcoming. Your good vibes do not go unnoticed!
Name: Allison Hall
Hometown: Brentwood, TN
Occupation: Healthcare analyst
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I grew up in Nashville and just graduated from college this past May. I studied economics and psychology and now I'm working at a healthcare company and trying to figure out how to be a grown up. My fiancé Graham also goes to H Dub and we're getting married in April! I will never go a day without coffee and love an early bedtime with a good novel.
What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
Before I started CrossFit I ran for the majority of my exercise. Which is funny because the first CrossFit class I tried I tripped and had a rough fall on gravel doing while sprints. So, at first it was to no longer be "that girl that ate it her first day".
How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?
I've been doing CrossFit for a little bit over a year. Graham had started it a few months before and convinced me to give it a try. I thought CrossFit was too intense for me and was doing Pure Barre at the time (slightly different) so it took a little bit of time for me to work up the courage to go.
What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit?
I definitely can't say that I show up at CrossFit for the Olympic lifting, but I'm working on that. I also have a tough relationship with double unders. Love most body weight or cardio focused workouts. Still waiting for Trey to program an all Assault bike workout.
How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you?
Moving back to Nashville I didn't really expect to make friends going to the gym. The community at the Dub is the best and I love how friendly everyone is. Shout out to the five thirty boys for letting me hang.
What advice do you have for newcomers?
Scaling does not mean you're weak. Work hard at getting better based off of where you are instead of beating yourself up for not being where you think you should be.
What is something no one at the gym knows about you?
HMM. That's hard. I'm still holding on to my 2nd place finish in the third grade spelling bee, so thanks for the opportunity to continue bragging about that.
Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive?
1. My parents - they both passed away when I was younger so I'd obviously love to get a meal with them
2. Taylor Swift - in an ideal world we'd get drinks and then decide to be best friends
3. The Pope - I'm not Catholic, but I would love to drink some vino in the Vatican and chat
If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be.
I'm going to regret putting this, but Work Out by J. Cole has been on every running playlist I've ever made.
You didn’t ask but my exit song would be Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield.
Soccer is probably my favorite. You may see me wearing one of my intermural championship shirts around the gym, but I'm not here to brag. Also hit me up if you want to go in on NSC tickets.
If you could have one super power what would it be?
I've always thought being able to fly would be so cool. It would probably also improve all of my pulling skills on the bar.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
I'm a big breakfast fan, so probably just a huge brunch. Big Bad Breakfast in Birmingham is the spot but Waffle House works too.
