May's Athlete of the Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

 

On this Mother's Day, we want to honor this bad ass mom, Alex Fisher! She is an inspiration to everyone around her. As a mom to a 1 year old she knows how important it is to prioritize her health. She is a staple to the 5:30am class and her positive attitude is greatly appreciated during those early morning workouts. We are grateful to have Alex in our H Dub family!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I’m a lawyer at Morgan & Morgan, where I have the privilege of representing people who are going through difficult situations, like losing their home to a fire or tornado. I’m also married to a total hottie  named Jason who works in management at Big Machine Vodka, and we have a one and a half year old son named Jackson, who is a bundle of high energy, and two high energy weimaraner mixes, Rayne and Charles. 


What were your goals when you started CrossFit? I wanted to lose some body fat I’d gained during pregnancy and rebuild muscle mass. 

How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it? Since August 2019! My friend Mollie Gass, a longtime CrossFitter, told me she thought I’d fit in well at CrossFit H Dub. 

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit? Favorite is any sort of compound lifting movement. It’s still new to me, so it requires an intense level of concentration that’s satisfying. Least favorite: burpees. 

How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you? Oh man. Too many ways to list! I’d say the biggest one is that I love it enough to wake up at 5 am for it. When my alarm goes off I tell myself I have to get up so I can go see my friends at the gym. :)

What advice do you have for newcomers? Be comfortable not being good at it at first. 

What is something no one at the gym knows about you? I‘ve been skydiving! I went in college. It was terrifying, and I was really proud of myself for pushing through the fear and doing it anyway.

If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be? Feels Right by Carly Rae Jepsen 

Favorite Sport? Watching or playing? Football for watching, soccer for playing. 

If you could have one super power what would it be? To enjoy each moment in life without worrying about the future! 

What is your favorite cheat meal? Reeses  outrageous sonic blast and a sonic corn dog.
